The Leaders' Digest: Positive Leadershift Amidst the Pandemic

Objectives
To support the overall wellness and advancement of a leader through the shared effort of the admin and other guest speakers
To create a safe space where student leaders can express their issues and concerns freely;
To strengthen a good rapport within the entire PUP Quezon City Council of Leaders.
Activity/Event Narrative
This three-day program served as an avenue for each student leader to get acquainted with each other and learn good points related to leader’s health and wellness. This also served as a good and safe space to know the issues, concerns and other matters concerning the students. Further, PUP Quezon City Student leaders had an opportunity to get inspiration and learnings from the leadership experiential manifestations or best practices of former student council presidents of the said branch. The general plans and inputs for the entire academic year are also covered on this event.
Virtual Strategic Planning 2021 was conducted via Zoom meeting from November 11 to 13, 2021. The program moderators, Mr. Jerome Chester Gay and Mx. Johnric Delos Reyes started the first day of the program with the singing of the National Anthem and Invocation, followed by the inspirational message from the PUPQC Director Assoc. Prof. Edgardo Delmo.
For the day one of the event, The Leaders’ Health and Wellness, the first Speaker, Inst. Melanie Bactasa talked about a mindful leadership. After every speaker for the whole event in three days, question and answer, awarding of certificate of recognition and photo opportunity was done by the technical team. We also prepared a raffle for attendees and an intermission number as a refresher before the next speaker. The second speaker, Dr. Melissa Puno-Sarapuddin talked about the bridge between physical health and leadership. Her talk focused on stress, leadership stress, chronic stress and stress management. After the question and answer, awarding of certificate and photo opportunity, COL or Council of Leaders Election happened and the elected officers are Mr. Ariel Ordanza Jr. for the position of COL President, Mr. Jerome Chester Gay as the COL Vice President and Ms. Kristine Casaños as the COL Secretary. The moderators closed the day one of the event.
The topic for the second day is The Leaders’ Experiential Manifestations and it was started with the talk of the first speaker Mr. Emmanuel Christian Refogio, former SSC President AY 2018-2019 with the topic Building Trust and Respect. He talked about the five questions about respect and the two types of question that will earn respect. Before moving on to the next speaker, we prepared an intermission song by Ms. Mary Grace Anne Prado as a refresher. The second speaker, Ms. Peter Pagran, the former SSC President AY 2019-2020 talked about project planning and how to create one and the meaning of task delegation and its importance. Third speaker Mr. Danilo Mercado Jr., former SSC President AY 2020-2021 shared about the Principles of being a Leader Amidst the Pandemic. Before closing the second day of the virtual strategic planning, we conducted raffle for the second time.
The last day of the event with the topic ORG Matters: Emphasizing Institutional Policies was started with the interfaith prayer and a recap from the moderators. The first speaker, Prof. Caroline T. Sumande talked about the value of accreditation and its process. Again, question and answer, awarding of certificate of recognition and photo opportunity was done by the technical team. Raffle was also conducted before proceeding to the next speaker. The second speaker Assoc. Prof. Demelyn E. Monzon talked about ORG Matters: Emphasizing Institutional Policies. The third speaker, Mr. Jomel Rabadon, shared a starter guide on how to Get Event Sponsors amidst Pandemic. The moderators together with the technical team handled the Q&A session, certificate of recognition presentation, and picture op. Technical writing was covered in a discussion by Ms. Shiena Mae Joan D. Francia, the legal counseling officer for PUP-SSC 2021–2022, and included the resolution letter, constitution and bylaws, proposal letter, concept paper, and accomplishment report. The current SSC President, Ms. Jennylyn Balaoro, concludes the three-day celebration with a few words of wisdom before the PUP Hymn is sung.
