Objectives
To heighten the sociopolitical consciousness of PUPQC students by engaging them to celebrate the National Human Rights Consciousness Week 2021.
To accurately inform the students about their basic human rights.
To create venue for hearing the sentiments and questions of the students pertaining to the said topics.
To strengthen the Pillar 10 of the reform agendas of PUP which focuses on access to education, knowledge building and information dissemination through sharing expertise and resources for community development.
Activity/Event Narrative
In celebration of the National Human Rights Consciousness Week 2021, the SSC launched a webinar and contests that aim to promote the importance of human rights and how one can defend them in times of repression and injustice.
Along with several contest prepared for the celebration of National Human Rights Consciousness Week 2021, the PUPQC-SSC in partnership with MUSA also prepared a relevant webinar on December 10, 2021 via Zoom Platform and Facebook Live. Program moderators Ms. Sophia Veinne Cerbo and Mr. Stephen Aldrich Laberinto commenced the celebration by playing an audio visual presentation for Invocation and the National Anthem followed by the opening remarks delivered by the PUPQC-SSC President, Ms. Jennylyn Balaoro.
The first keynote speaker of the event was the project coordinator of Alternative Law groups, Atty. Gian Miko Arabejo. His discussion was about the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights under Philippine Constitution. The second keynote speaker was Mr. Mark Vincent Fusilero, PUP College of Law Student Council President who also served as Paralegal for Children’s Legal Rights and Development Center. He discussed about the essentials of Advancing Human Rights in the Context of Pandemic. After each speaker, an open forum was held between the speakers and the audience followed by the awarding of certificate of recognition and photo opportunity.
After the keynote speakers shared their expertise, the webinar moved on to the presentation of entries and awarding of winners of different contest categories. The first category was the traditional poster making contest, second category was the stamp the statement make-up contest and the third category was the mobile photography contest wherein we presented the entries, judges, and the winner. The photo op was captured by the technical team right after the announcement of winners. The event was successfully concluded with the closing remarks of Ms. Nicole Dela Rosa, the President of Mag-aaral ng Unibersidad sa Sning at Adhika (MUSA) and with the singing of the PUP Hymn
