Objectives
Share the best practices of present PUPQC student leaders to studentparticipants; Discuss fundamental principles of leadership;
Provide quality information in technical writing particularly in crafting resolution, official statement and amending the constitution and By-laws;
Uphold the University's Reform Agenda Pillar 1: Dynamic. Transformational, and Responsible Leadership and Pillar 4: Holistic Student Development and Engagement.
Activity/Event Narrative
The SSC launched its flagship program together with the Council of Leaders and other student organizations in PUP Quezon City in order to ensure that the next set of student leaders can establish and manage effective processes in an organization. The participants learned from the experiences and insights of the incumbent student leaders coming from different student organizations. Aside from these, the SSC being true to its mandate, created E-Report, a Safe Space for PUPQC Students' Academic Issues and Concerns, and also engaged with statement releases and other off-campus endeavors that promote students’ rights and welfare.
This in-house leadership training and capacity-building program was held on July 19- 21, 2022 via Zoom Meeting and Facebook live. The moderator, Mr. Mico Rgie Padaoan opened the program by acknowledging the partner organizations followed by an interfaith prayer and the singiing of the National Anthem. Mr. Jerome Chester Gay, the acting Chair of the COL delivered his opening remarks and an inspirational message was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Alma Fernandez, Head of Student Affairs and Services. Before introducing the first speaker, organizers prepared an ice breaker activity for day one and it was facilitated by Ms. Rose Ann Nacionales.
The Program Moderator introduced the first keynote speaker of the day, Ms. Jennylyn Balaoro, the PUPQC-SSC President to discuss the Styles and Intelligence of Leadership. This was followed by an open forum. A certificate of recognition was awarded to Ms. Jen Balaoro and was followed by the special performance of Project Groovers. The Program Moderator introduced the second keynote speaker of the day, Ms. Caterine Cruzin and she talked about managing Inclusion and Diversity. Awarding of certificate of recognition and an open forum followed. The program moderator introduced the third keynote speaker of the day, Mr. Jerald Vincent Agustin. He talked about Unleashing Mentoring and Delegation Skills. An open forum and awarding of certificate followed. The first day of the program was successfully ended with the photo opportunity, acknowledgement of partner organizations, and solemn singing of PUP HYMN.
The second day of In-house Leadership Training and Capacity Building Program is hosted by Mr. R-Jay Balunto. He gave a recap for the day one discussion. A snippet of how our Day 2 In-house Leadership Training and Capacity-Building Program started, we had an exciting fun activity entitled “Count me in” whereas delegates from Zoom Meeting needs to count themselves continuously until everyone is counted. The moderator introduced the first keynote speaker, Ms. Rea Oliveros, she shared and discussed the Principles of Effective Leadership Communication. Our first topic concluded with takeaways or an open forum and this was followed by the awarding of Certificate. To give the participants a short break, special performance by TIWAY was played. The Program Moderator introduced the second keynote speaker of the day, Ms. Lynette Gonzaga and she discussed about Problem Solving and Decision-Making Skills. An open forum and awarding of certificate followed. Before proceeding to the next speaker, a raffle draw is held live for the registered participants. The third keynote speaker, Ms. Maria Vannessa Espectacion discussed about the Benefits of Time Management and as she ended her presentation, she gives the participants a chance to ask question and clarifications. This was followed by the awarding of certificate. The second day of the program was successfully ended with the acknowledgement of partner organizations, photo opportunity with the participants and solemn singing of PUP HYMN.
The day 3 In-house Leadership Training and Capacity Building Program was commenced by playing an audio-visual presentation for invocation. This was followed by the recap of day 2. The Ice breaker activity for day 3 was facilitated by Ms. Katleen Cabiles. Right after this, Mr. Jerome Chester Gay, Vice Chairperson of COL, spoke as the first speaker and he discussed about crafting resolutions & constitutions and by-laws. After the discussion, the keynote speaker opened the floor for the open forum and this followed by the awarding of certificate. To give the participants a short break, special performance by Februey Bigornia was played. The second speaker was Mr. Ralph Joseph Tuazon who discussed about Effective Statement Writing. He took part in an open forum with members of the audience, who were encouraged to express whatever questions they had about the discussed topic followed by awarding of certificate of recognition. Before proceeding to the next speaker, he names of PUPQC students who registered for the event are displayed on the wheel for a raffle. This raffle's lucky winner was Nor-Aliah A. Macabayao. Prizes are sent to the winner via gcash. The third keynote speaker, Mr. John Chirs Cayetano talked about Crafting Creative and Effective Publicity Material. This was followed by an open forum and awarding of certificate. For the last part of the program, Mr. Ryan Oliver, a former president of the PUPQCSSC, discussed the 6Cs of the Leadership Journey as part of the programs’ A Leader's Note. The program's closing remarks were delivered with sincerity by Ms. Jen Balaoro, President of the PUPQC Supreme Student Council. With a photo opportunity and the singing of PUP Hymn, the In-House Leadership Training and Capacity Building Program was effectively wrapped up.
