3-DAY COVID-19 AND VACCINE EDUCATION DRIVE
Slashing Infodemic: The Truth behind Variants and Vaccines

Objectives
To disseminate updated and factual information pertaining to COVID-19 and Vaccines and help prevent the widespread of infodemic.
To critically analyze academic, community level and individual approaches in dealing with pandemic and the available information pertaining to COVID-19.
To strengthen the Pillar 10 of the reform agendas of PUP which focuses on access to education, knowledge building and information dissemination through sharing expertise and resources for community development.
Activity/Event Narrative
This three-day campaign, which was initiated by PUPQC-SSC in collaboration with the COL, Vox Nova, RCY, CHRS, and KATAGA, aims to spread knowledge about COVID-19 and the vaccine among students and individuals outside of the university as COVID-19 cases continue to rise at the beginning of 2022. The event was broadcast live on Facebook and the Zoom Platform from January 17 to 19, 2022.
On the first day of the event, Ms. Kristine Casaños and Mr. Jerome Chester Gay, the program moderators, introduced the PUPQC Director, Assoc. Prof. Edgardo S. Delmo for an opening remarks, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and Invocation. The first speaker, Mr. Reyson Palomado, was then introduced and provided information on the many COVID-19 variations and vaccines. To wrap up our first day, awarding of certificate of recognition, photo op, and an open forum between the speaker and audiences was held in zoom and on Facebook Live.
Second day of the event started with an invocation and national anthem, sharing of the faculty’s take on slashing infodemic and a recap from the first day. Mr. Julius Jerald D. Marcale, News Script Producer at GMA News and Public Affairs is the speaker of the day and he shares his knowledge on how to fight the COVID-19 Infodemic. After his talk, an open forum was held between Mr. Julius and the audience followed by the awarding of certificate of recognition and photo opportunity. Finishing off the day two of the webinar with the singing of the PUP Hymn.
Before the day three started, student leaders shared their thoughts on fighting rampant infodemic. The moderators started the event with the recap and shared their insights from the past two days. The first speaker, Ms. Mitzi M. Fadriquela shared her knowledge about the Frontline role of Community in Response to COVID-19. Before moving on to the next speaker, an open forum was held between Ms. Mitzi and the audience followed by the awarding of certificate of recognition and photo op. We also prepared an intermission song by MUSA as a refresher. The second speaker, Dr. Melissa Sarapuddin shared facts and answered questions about COVID-19 & Vaccine FAQs. Awarding of certificate of recognition, photo op, and an open forum between the speaker and audiences was held in zoom and on Facebook Live. The current SSC President, Ms. Jennylyn Balaoro, concludes the three-day celebration with a few words of wisdom before the PUP Hymn is sung.
